Final Fight 2

The Mad Gear gang is back, and this time you don't have to fight them alone. Final Fight 2 is Capcom's 1993 Super Nintendo beat-'em-up sequel β€” bigger, more international, and built from the ground up with two-player co-op β€” and you can play the full game right here in your browser, free and with no download. Choose your brawler, grab a friend, and punch your way across the globe. Hit the Play button to start the rumble, and read on for the story, characters, controls, and tips.

What Is Final Fight 2?

Final Fight 2 is a side-scrolling beat-'em-up released by Capcom for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) in 1993. It's the sequel to the original Final Fight, but unlike the first game it was built directly for home consoles by Capcom's consumer division β€” with no arcade version first. The biggest upgrade over the SNES original: two players can brawl side by side simultaneously, the co-op experience fans wanted from the start.

The story sends mayor Mike Haggar around the world after the resurgent Mad Gear gang kidnaps the family of Guy (the first game's ninja) β€” specifically Maki's sister and father, who are Guy's fiancΓ©e and teacher. Haggar teams up with two new heroes to chase Mad Gear across six countries and bring them home.

Characters

Final Fight 2 gives you three playable brawlers, each with a unique style:

  • Mike Haggar β€” the returning mayor, a wrestling powerhouse with bone-crushing grabs and throws. Slow but immensely strong.
  • Maki Genryusai β€” a fast female ninja of the Bushin-ryΕ« school (in the same mold as Guy), with quick strikes and great mobility.
  • Carlos Miyamoto β€” a South American martial artist who wields a sword for his Special Move, balancing reach and power.

With a code, two players can even pick the same character. Each hero has their own techniques and feel, so your pick shapes how you play.

How the Gameplay Works

If you've played the first Final Fight, you'll be right at home β€” with welcome additions:

  • Attack combos β€” tap Attack to chain strikes into a finisher.
  • Jump attacks β€” leap in to open up groups of enemies.
  • Special Move β€” press Attack and Jump together (or a dedicated button) for a crowd-clearing hit that costs a little health.
  • Grabs & throws β€” walk into an enemy to grab them, then strike or toss them into others.
  • Weapons & items β€” pick up a tonfa, lumber, or a knife, and smash open drums and barrels for health-restoring food and points. Look out for the Genryusai Doll (temporary invincibility) and the Guy Doll (an extra life).

The game runs across six stages, each set in a different country β€” Hong Kong, France, Holland, England, Italy, and Japan β€” capped by a boss. Returning fans will spot the Andore family and the return of Rolento (here spelled "Rolent"), a boss cut from the SNES original.

How to Play

Getting started is instant. Press the Play button on this page and Final Fight 2 loads directly in your browser β€” free, with nothing to install. Then:

  1. Choose Haggar, Maki, or Carlos from the select screen.
  2. Walk into enemies and tap Attack to chain combos.
  3. Grab and throw tougher foes into the crowd.
  4. Use your Special when surrounded β€” it costs a little health.
  5. Smash barrels for food and items, and beat each stage's boss to travel to the next country.

Final Fight 2 plays great on both desktop and mobile. On a computer you use the keyboard (and any USB or Bluetooth gamepad you connect is detected automatically and maps to the SNES layout), while on phones and tablets you get a custom on-screen gamepad styled just like a real SNES controller β€” so every punch, throw, and special is right at your thumbs.

Controls

Here's what each control does, mapped to your keyboard:

ActionControl
MoveArrow Keys
Attack / ComboY (S)
JumpB (X)
Special (hits all enemies)Y + B together
Pick Up Weapon / ItemY (S) over the item
PauseEnter (Start)

A connected gamepad uses the same button assignments, and the game's two-player co-op makes a second controller (or a friend on the on-screen pad) a great way to play.

Tips for New Players

  • Play co-op if you can. Final Fight 2's headline feature is simultaneous two-player brawling β€” a partner makes crowds far easier to manage.
  • Throw, don't trade. Tossing enemies into each other clears space without the chip damage of standing toe-to-toe.
  • Save your Special. It drains health, so reserve it for when you're genuinely surrounded.
  • Grab the dolls. The Genryusai Doll's invincibility is perfect for pushing through a tough boss, and the Guy Doll's extra life is precious.
  • Learn each character's reach. Carlos's sword Special and Maki's speed reward different playstyles than Haggar's raw power.

Why Play It in Your Browser?

Final Fight 2 is the co-op sequel SNES owners wanted, and running it right here means no cartridge hunting and no console setup β€” just press Play and start swinging. Because it's the genuine 16-bit build, you get all three characters, the globe-trotting stages, the dolls and weapons, and the simultaneous two-player action exactly as Capcom designed it.
